    Payroll Specialist job description

The main task of the salary specialist is to ensure that the wages of the organization are paid out correctly and on time. Tasks include ongoing salary, tax, fees, statistics, insurance, sick leave, and bonus management. In addition, administering pensions, wellness schemes, allowances, expenses, and holiday management is commonplace. The payroll department is often the organizational contact regarding time reporting systems, and wage-related queries, and may also be the main contact for external parties such as the authorities.

The finance department and its design

The accounting department can be likened to the heart of the finance department. It holds vital importance in small, medium, and large-cap organizations. In smaller companies, it’s not uncommon for a single individual to shoulder the entire financial responsibility of the accounting team. They often have the title of finance manager. As the size and complexity of the organization grow, so does the finance department. In small/mid-cap companies the standard set-up usually contains a finance manager, accountants, and accounting clerks/bookkeepers. In large organizations, finance functions often consist of multiple individuals who often have specialized roles i.e. some accounting clerks will focus entirely on accounts payable or receivable and handling the invoice process between clients and suppliers, payroll specialists, tax specialists, etc. Payroll specialists also serve as a bridge between finance and HR. Some payroll specialists might be organized within the HR department, being that many of the tasks are HR related in character. In general, payroll managers are only required at larger organizations where there are two or more payroll specialists/assistants.

    Skills and competences

Skills that are vital for a good payroll administrator are attention to detail, organization, and responsibility. High levels of integrity and good communicative skills are also required. Over and above administrative tasks, critical thinking and action are important in our scouting process.

    Software knowledge

Being software savvy is definitely advantageous for our customers. We are therefore selective in our scouting process. Candidates should have good knowledge of one or more systems i.e. Agda, Hogia, Visma, Flex, Crona Lön, Kontek, SPCS, Aditro & BL Administration.

    Industry Experience

Our recruiters at CFO Recruitment have industry experience, and we believe this is key in pairing the right individual with the right client. With our own background in finance, we can quickly identify the resource issue and what is required to find a high-quality solution. We pull fitting professionals from our extensive network to connect with our clients. Payroll Specialist salary

The salary of a payroll specialist is dependent on the profile requested i.e. the degree of responsibility, competence, education, industry experience, etc. Market trends have indicated high demand and low supply over the last couple of years which has led to increasing costs. However, our well-established payroll specialist network includes a large number of professionals with different profiles and we’re confident we’ll be able to connect our customers and candidates correctly.

    Find a payroll specialist

We aren’t the only ones in our market space. A couple of our competitors are Michael Page and Robert Half. However, we at CFO Recruitment are working at the forefront of scouting high-quality & talented candidates and relish any competition that keeps us on our toes
